Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli (BSA), cherished by many as a political hero and friend is a highly respected and experienced traditional leader, trained professional lawyer and a dedicated philanthropist in Nigeria.

He is currently representing Oyo South Senatorial District of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the 10th National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a Senator of the All Progressives Congress (APc)party.

Alli was born into the famous Olofiere Family in the historic Mapo District of Ibadan, Oyo State on 20th March, 1963 and brought up in Oke Aremo, Ibadan North Local Government Area in Ibadan

The earlier efforts were precursors to a now full fledged, institutionalized bid for the lofty position of Governor.

Senator Alli officially announced his candidacy for the 2027 Oyo State Governorship Election on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform Friday, April 17, 2026. The declaration was made at a well attended massive rally at the Divisional Police Station Training Field, Yemetu, Ibadan. Millions of APC leaders, chieftains, followers and well-wishers from all over Oyo State turned-up for the occasion.

“As I speak to the traditional rulers and political stakeholders in the state, I am here today to announce my candidacy for Governor of Oyo State with a formal declaration,” he said.

The declaration occurred around two weeks after the much discussed controversy that broke out a few days back at Mapo Hall when three top Ibadan traditional rulers including the aforementioned Alli were crowned as Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland at Ibadan. But all the other two newly-installed monarchs were not present and the Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, officiated on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde. Alli then suggested the coronation should have been delayed because all three honourees had provided justification for their absence.

Many APC leaders have also publicly declared their support for him which makes him a very strong candidate for the upcoming 2027 Oyo Governorship elections.
