Privacy Policy

Hello and welcome to Storylyfe. We value your privacy and want to be completely open about how we handle your information. This page explains what data we collect when you visit our website, why we need it, and how you can control it.

Who We Are

Our website address is: http://storylyfe.com. We are a platform dedicated to providing accurate biographies and profiles of Nigerian public figures, creators, and politicians.

Comments

When you leave a comment on our articles, we collect the details you type into the comment form. We also collect your IP address and the type of browser you are using. We do this for a very simple reason: it helps our automated systems detect and block spam.

If you use a Gravatar account for your profile picture, an anonymized string created from your email address (often called a hash) might be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. You can read the Gravatar privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once we approve your comment, your Gravatar profile picture will be visible to the public right next to your words.

Media

If you ever upload images to the website, please be careful not to upload photos that contain embedded location data (known as EXIF GPS). Anyone who visits the website can download those images and extract the hidden location data, which could reveal where the photo was taken.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you can choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. We offer this just for your convenience. It means you will not have to type all your details again the next time you want to leave a comment. These specific cookies will stay on your device for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie just to check if your browser accepts cookies at all. This cookie contains zero personal data and disappears the moment you close your browser.

When you log in, we set up a few more cookies to save your login details and your screen display preferences. Login cookies stick around for two days, while screen option cookies last for a year. If you check the “Remember Me” box, your login will stay active for two weeks. Whenever you log out, those login cookies are instantly removed.

If you edit or publish an article, one extra cookie gets saved in your browser. It doesn’t hold any personal data; it simply records the post ID of the article you just worked on. It expires after exactly one day.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Sometimes, our biographies include embedded content, such as YouTube videos, Instagram posts, or Twitter feeds. This embedded content acts exactly as if you had visited the other website directly. Those external websites might collect data about you, use their own cookies, add extra third-party tracking, and watch how you interact with that embedded content—especially if you are currently logged into an account on their website.

Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell your personal data to anyone. If you ever request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email for security reasons.

How Long We Retain Your Data

If you leave a comment, that comment and its hidden data are kept indefinitely. We do this so our system can recognize and approve your future comments automatically instead of holding them back in a moderation queue.

For anyone who registers on our website, we store the personal information they put in their user profile. All users can look at, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (though you cannot change your username). Our website administrators can also view and edit that information to help manage the site.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account on Storylyfe, or if you have left comments, you have the right to request an exported file containing all the personal data we have on file for you. You can also ask us to completely erase any personal data we hold about you. Please note that this does not include data we are legally required to keep for administrative, legal, or security reasons.

Where Your Data Is Sent

To keep our comment sections clean and safe, visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
