Tajudeen Abbas has remained a prominently trusted and influential political personality in modern times in Nigeria. He is a well known politician in Nigeria. In addition to that, he is also an academic as well as the current Speaker of the House of Representatives. He is also an active member of the National Assembly and he has been representing the people of Zaria Federal Constituency.

He comes from a royal family because his father was Muhammad Sani Abbas, of the Mallawa family. His mother Aisha Halima Abbas is from Dutsen Kura in Katsina State.

He started his education at LEA Primary School, Lemu, Zaria where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. He later moved to Government Secondary School, Makarfi where he graduated with his West African Examination Certificate in 1978.
He left secondary school to join Kaduna Teachers’ College and was awarded the relevant Grade II Certificate in 1981. This qualified him to proceed and start his career at the primary schools level from 1981-1988.
But he kept on. He later got admitted into Ahmadu Bello University. It was in this institution that he got his Diploma in Accounting. He then furthered to get a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1988.
In 1993, he was back at ABU to get his Masters degree in Business Administration. He was acclaimed the Best Student in International Finance during his master’s studies.
He received his Doctorate in Business Management in 2010 from the Sokoto administration of Usmanu Danfodiyo University. This put him among the limited political class who have genuine PhD qualifications through successful years of study.
Career Before Politics
Abbas had gone through a successful career in the fields of education and business before joining politics. From 1981 to 1988, he was a primary school teacher at Zaria Local Government Area. From 1993 to 2001, he gave his focus to higher education; as a lecturer at a Polytechnic, then as Lecturer at Kaduna State University (KASU).
In KASU, he has been the first Chief of the Accounting Department since 2005. He was nominated Best Head of Department of the Polytechnic he taught at. He is also a Fellow of the Association of Hospitality Management, Nigeria.
From 2001 – 2005 he stepped out of the classroom to serve as a Marketing Manager at the now British-American Tobacco (BAT), formerly known as Nigerian Tobacco Distribution Company. This provided him with the real-world experience which few academics have had.

Political Career of Tajudeen Abbas
Abbas fully entered into politics in 2010. The next year, he was able to secure a spot for himself in the House of Representatives. He was continually elected for 3 years. His people had their full trust in him. That is why he’s the first person from Zaria federal constituency to be elected again and again. His people trust him is reflected in that record.
While in the House, he became a member of a number of committees of importance. They are Commerce, Finance, Defence, Public Procurement, Special Duties, and National Planning.
